Lecture Assignment (3/4)

a. what is the purpose of this photo; why was it taken? why do you keep it? why did you choose it for this assignment? What is its significance to you?
Taken of my brother in New Orleans. To show off his sweet hat. Because it is still on my phone. I chose this photo because it was of exciting time of my life. It reminds of the good times, unlike now where I have to work all of spring break on 3 projects.

b. What is the emotional relationship between the photographer and the subject? how does that influence the way the picture was taken? How does it affect the way you look at the photo? What is the photographer' atttude toward the subject? What is the subject's attitude towards the photographer?
He is my brother. The photo was shot very close up. I love him very much. He loves me very much.

c. In what context is this photo intended to be viewed?, by who, for how long? Do you think you will still remember this photo in ten years?
On the screen of my phone. By me, most likely for a couple of seconds as I scroll through photos. It is certainly possible.

To document our vacation in Tennessee. Because it is still on my computer hard drive. I like the poses and the emotion that everyone is feeling is clearly evident. It reminds me of a more carefree time. A time when I wasn't assigned 3 projects to do over my spring break.

My mom is the photographer of her family. It was taken casually with the intention of just documenting family moments. I look back at it nostalgically knowing we are all 4 there. She loves us very much right here. Me and my brother are not paying much attention, while Dad is being silly towards her.

On the monitor of either my or my mother's computer monitor. Most likely just me or my mom, for a couple of seconds as we go through the album. I'm not sure. It will probably be grouped with a lot of other photos of this era, and it will be remembered as a set.

The purpose was to document the birthday of girl. I don't keep it as I have just gotten it. I chose it because you can see the joy radiating off her face. It is significant because it shows the opposite of my life right now. She seems genuinely happy, while I am not at all because I feel overworked yet still have much work to do during my supposed break.

b. What is the emotional relationship between the photographer and the subject? how does that influence the way the picture was taken? How does it affect the way you look at the photo? What is the photographer' atttude toward the subject? What is the subject's attitude towards the photographer?
The photographer is the mother of the subject. It is taken in a clearly positive light, though still professionally done because the mother is a photographer. I look at it cheerfully because the it is such a positive photo. I assume that the photographer loves and cares for the subject. I would also assume the same for the subject towards the photographer.

Online at Flickr. Anyone in the Flickr community, as long as they feel like they should. No, because it is a random photo I picked for an assignment my freshman year of college.
